What Did Jesus Say?

Repentance, faith, consecration, dedication, prayer, peace, serving, stewardship, depending on God through it all—Jesus taught all of these and more. Learning to think of how to apply Jesus’ teachings to everyday living is a process that develops through training. You are the guide for leading boys and girls to experience such a relationship with the Lord. These lessons which focus on those character traits listed above give you an opportunity to change lives for eternity.
Salvation is the beginning point of spiritual living. Begin the quarter with a sharply focused lesson about everyone’s need to repent of sin and receive God’s forgiveness. The other lessons build on that basis.
The theme of this series—“What Did Jesus Say?”—stresses the authority of the Son of God. His teachings are the principles on which spiritual truths stand. Accepting the responsibility to live pleasing to the Lord after salvation may be a new concept for students. The need to receive God’s gift of eternal life to escape the terrors of hell sometimes eclipses the equally important truth of making Jesus Lord of all. Salvation is more than fire insurance; it begins a totally new way of life.
That is the challenge young learners must face. Too many children feel conviction of sin, respond with rightful concern and pray to receive Jesus as Savior without knowing they must accept Him as Lord. Life should be different after salvation. Saved for service is the goal. Emphasize the joy which commitment affords. When one becomes totally focused on doing the will of God every single day, purpose becomes a consuming, burning desire that affects life choices.
Consider each session an opportunity to present truth that makes life more meaningful for children growing up in a world that seems senseless at times. What did Jesus say? is a question that gives great impact to decisions. Children need to know God’s Word to have answers. Because Satan uses pressures of all kinds to influence little lives, teachers must diligently prepare them to stand alone.

One Savior for All Sinners

Quarterly Aim: The pupil will learn how God provides salvation for every segment and condition of humanity in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The lessons covered in this quarterly will deal with God’s marvelous gift of salvation. The world has the idea, if there is a God, then He must grant access into His presence on the basis of merit. If a person lives a good enough life, then he or she will have an eternity of bliss and joy. While that sounds good, it is an affront to the essential character of God. His justice and righteousness will not allow Him to excuse sin. It must either be punished, or its price must be paid. Human efforts cannot cover the cost of sin. So, how can a person be saved?      Since Heaven is God’s possession, He chooses how a person will gain entrance. For salvation to be available, someone had to pay the price for sin. The price was set by God Himself. He did not derive a special plan of salvation for Jews and a different plan for Gentiles. God’s plan has always been and always will be the same. It is a plan expressed by Paul in these terms, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Eph. 2:8).
