The Prayers of Jesus

 

What is prayer? Nelson’s Bible Dictionary defines prayer simply as “communication with God” (Electronic Database: Nelson’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Copyright (c)1986, Thomas Nelson Publishers). It is not some mystical form one must follow to achieve an audience with God. It is merely communicating with the Almighty God. In this quarter’s studies, we will examine the ultimate example of prayer, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. How He approached the matter of prayer can instruct His people on this vital tool in the Christian’s walk.

Let's Talk About Jesus

This study focuses on getting to know Jesus and sharing Him with others. When we stand before God in judgment, He will not ask for a resumé. He is more concerned with our motives, our heart and what prompts the performance we present to Him as service. You need not have a college degree, attend a megachurch or accomplish impressive goals for God to use you effectively.
His requirement is simple: He searches for a pure heart, a person with a hunger and thirst to know and serve Him without an eye on rewards or what the results will be. Whoever you are, God wants to use you in an eternal, meaningful way. Maintain childlike faith and dependence on Him for spiritual excellence.
