MY MISSIONARY REPORT

For NOVEMBER 2023

Welcome to December everyone. The last 2 weeks of November brought us sadness of heart for 2 dear friends of ours. Their second son went home to be with Jesus. He was in his mid twenty’s.

Mavis and I went to see them and attend the funeral. We left the 15th of November for Bristol, TN; headed home the 17th. Spent the night at our daughters house in PA. Preached in a church in PA before heading home Monday, the 20th. We then packed our clothes for Michigan City, Indiana, for Thanksgiving. We had a good time. We left Saturday morning to beat the snow storm coming the next day. We got home late Saturday evening. Went to our church Sunday morning. Preached the Word. Then the following morning, Monday, the 27th, the day before her birthday, Mavis had a stroke. Today is December 1. For the past 4 days the focus of our attention, apart from Jesus, has been her physical care. At this point I want to thank everyone for their prayers and help with this.

So, Mavis is home. She is doing fair-fine. She has no control with her left hand (she is our pianist), her left cheek has numbness, which causes her to bite her lip while eating. Her speech is fine and there is no drooping of the face. She continues to have some dizziness. We have a health care nurse come once a week; a physical therapist; and an occupational therapist come in. She is on 3 meds now. Other than this, she seems to be doing well. She instructs me on how to do the laundry, cook the meals, vacuum, etc. So, the last 4 days, I am identifying as a woman. Lord help. Prayers are needed for the 3 of us ):

I am so thankful. Folks have been cooking our evening means and many other things. God is good. Of course, apart from taking care of my wife, I have the care of the Mission. I thank God I have a man who fills in for me. He is quite capable.

Not much to say more than that. God is still good! The Devil will not win this battle.

Thank you for your prayers for us and the Mission. We love you. Write us. Come see us. Bring a snow shovel when you do. Our address is New Horizon Baptist, 8505 South Street Road, Port Byron, NY 13140. 717-419-5777. Don & Mavis Hagen, 1371 Berger Road, Port Byron, NY 13140.

God bless.

Don & Mavis Hagen, your Missionaries to Port Byron and Central New York.
